Nearly Perfect!

**Edit** I know this may be asking for too much already, but considering Ive been playing IX on my phone, is it possible Silicon Studios Thailand [No Offense to DotEMU] can rework VIIs on-screen controls, graphics, and side-bar quality to the same extent as IX? I bumped it down a star due to VII being such a rough port. The overlay really gets in the way of me enjoying it once again and the lag after coming out of a battle in the world map is pretty bad [Easily 15fps].. Another thing thats bothering me is: where are the achievements? PSN and Steam got them... What about iOS? Some of the earlier FF games got it. Why is the iOS scene so fragmented? **Original** Its a bittersweet day to see my favorite game of all time get the iOS treatment (excited to see the rest of the PSX collection). Since Ive literally only played a few minutes of it, Ill express things Id like to see. This game needs no introduction, so Ill skip that part (its definitely worth a finish if youve, astonishingly never completed it or.. Even worse.. Never heard of it **YIKES**). Although I have enjoyed it thus far, here are my minor quibbles that I have with the game: • The movement around the world seems a bit more fast than I remember. Not a problem, just a bit strange; •The overlay is fine, but the excess of buttons that dont function all the time (R1, L2, S1, etc.) is a bit distracting. Plus, when in battle, not tapping on commands (Attack, Magic, Items, etc.), but instead moving the cursor with the directional pad is a little cumbersome. Maybe allow to choose between this and another control scheme when it comes to menus? •Okay. This is definitely minor, but I absolutely hate the widescreen bars on the side. This is a personal preference. It would be nice to maybe stretch the screen to 16:9 (a la PSP or Vita), or maybe a moving, gradient side-bar to avoid the static frames around the side. All-in-all, this is a welcome port of a legendary game. Its near perfect for me. Id just like to see a few fixes to make it an essential game. It gets ★★★★★ for the content alone. Looking forward to the future installments.

Really?

No full screen option? No way to change up how the controls actually work. Analogue is fine until you actually need to get to a ladder, item, an obscure exit. I get no regain in graphics but at least update it to fit the resolution and please fix the controls and my review will be a 5 star.

No sound...

Great game. Thats obvious. Its a classic. However, this version has no sound on my 6 plus.

Sorry Square Enix

This is final Fantasy 7 one of my favorite games of all time available at my phone. Thats the only reason it gets a 3. Because the controllers are horrible, the auto save doesnt work correctly, and it was a very lazy port in my opinion. This review should be a 5 but sadly I must give it a 3.

Almost there

Great game, its a must buy if ur a fan. I play it on the iPhone 6 + and controls r good smooth, gameplay is classic, graphic ps1. Im only giving it 4 bc it does not auto save for me. The save points may b too distant from each other, so I dont make it to one. Its annoying having to save each opportunity to avoid lost progress. I hope this is an easy fix.

Great port and awesome game!

The only thing I have to say negatively is a glitch I found at the Dons mansion. When I talked to The guard, Aeria would not talk to me. I had to restart the whole game to get past the point. Otherwise this is a great port of the best RPG of all time

Amazing storyline and characters

I cant say enough about how awesome this game is (now on iOS!). There is so much depth, so much to do, and such a rich storyline. Buy it!

Great port, great game. No “problems" whatsoever

Read most of the reviews of this game, and I’ve got to say: I don’t experience any of the quirks or problems most people were complaining about. Sure, the controls may be a little clunky, but they are fairly easy to get used to; it doesn’t make the game unplayable so that’s a big plus. It’s also important to note that this is a RPG from 1997, so younger players or first-timers will obviously have to adjust. Overall, this is a great port of a great game. Would recommend to any RPG fan many times over. 10/10 easily

A great start to the RPG franchise

A great port from the original. A few graphical glitches but thats to be expected from a port. If you want to begin a game in the RPG or final fantasy franchise, then this game is for you. The only things I have to warn you about is if you like simple plots, this final fantasy game is not for you. In my opinion, it is my current favorite game. I cant wait for the HD remake!

Nostalgia

This game is just the way I remembered it to be dramatic and suspenseful, having said that Im unable to move around in certain areas. Therefore, disallows transition into next phase of game.

Just doesnt feel right

The controls are just so bad, it really takes away from the overall experience. I played for about 2 hours before giving up.

Dont buy!

This is a port of the original game with a MAJOR flaw! The ability to turn off encounters and max stat your team is AWESOME, that is until you get to end of the game after 30+ hours and realize that in doing so you CAN NOT get one of the best materia pieces (final attack) in the game! By max stating you learn Clouds omnislash which prevents you from unlocking "special battles" at the Gold Saucer... VERY DISAPPOINTED given the high cost of this port..... :(

No auto-save :-(

So I got a phone call while playing, and just after I have defeated Palmer (a boss). I had not finished all the character dialog when I got the phone call in order to reach the next save point. After my hour long phone call from Mom, I returned to my game only to find that Id been had. My progress was lost all the way back to the previous save point! Now, I have to re-defeat Palmer and go through all of that dialog again. :-( Also, the controls are terrible, especially on smaller iPhones. During battle, push up for right, or is it up for left? Idk, cause its different for every battle, and if you like to play with ATB, youll get plummeted just trying to select the correct enemy to attack or friend to heal. :-( At least it is still a cool game, but the devs tried to reinvent the wheel, or rather, the PlayStation controls instead of refining the controls for a touch screen iPhone. This affects the games playability. :-(

AppleTV

Please port this game to AppleTV

One of the best games ever, but one problem

Final Fantasy VII is one of the best video games of all time, and theres nothing different about it in this mobile port except for one thing. That says a lot right there! But that begs the question: what is the one problem this game has? Auto saving. This game NEEDS an auto saving mechanic. When you play a good RPG, you play it for HOURS, and this is one of those cases. However, chances are, if youre so in the game and cant stop playing. Youll likely be having an experience so unreal that youll forget to save in the long run. That being said, if you die and you havent saved for a while or at all, then youre going to have to start the game all over again. Which will be very frustrating, rage insisting, annoying, and disappointing. And shockingly enough (sarcasm) this happened to not only myself, but to basically every other person who played this port. So please, game developers, add this feature.

Max stats

What about the magics?

Poor game. Poor support

This game is nothing like ff6 and I would like my money back. I didnt spend $17 to get a ps1 game with controls on screen. This was a rip off and support or a refund would be wonderful.

Fantastic game - needs save anywhere functionality

This is a new era. Having to play for another 30 minutes on my phone to get to a save point is endlessly frustrating, and essentially makes the game unplayable for me. Seems like an easy fix. Any way, game plays beautifully on 5s and 6s plus. Holds up well.

No Keyboard Mapping!?!?

Final Fantasy VII on the iPad! One huge problem: the controls are on the screen, and you cant map them to your keyboard. The on-screen buttons take you out of the game. Its not easy to navigate Cloud by your fingertips alone, clogging up the screen as you go. Would be nice if I could use my keyboard instead for the games controls. Allow me to be immersed with the game on screen. That, or allow full touch interaction with the game itself to make the controls worthwhile. Tapping attack, or magic, or item, or tapping on a target itself. Rather than tapping the arrow keys and buttons on the screen itself, which lays on top of the combat interface. Its a novelty to have it on my iPad. But it doesnt allow the nostalgia to sink in when you have to tap controls that are fixed on the screen, with only 4 minor configurations to choose from.

100

FFVII running clean on iOS. Too dope with the Gamevice.
