FINAL FANTASY VII App Reviews

Update: it deleted itself from my iPad and now I cant download it again. I dont know whats wrong. Ive always loved this game, and the only problems it has are the same problems it had when it was first released. Some have been fixed, such as walking/running, but the small niggles like directional buttons for movement have been fixed with a virtual analog stick, and thats huge. Basically there are two camps of people, those whom think FF7 is the best FF of all time, and those that dont. These are opinions, and arguing over them is utterly pointless. Either you like it or you dont, and no amount of fanboy vitriol is going to change anyone elses mind. It will likely only entrench their opinion deeper out of spite. That being said, everyone Ive met who doesnt love this game is a millennial...which only speaks to horribleness of all millennials being disgusting, spoilt brats who wouldnt know genuine quality if was handed to them on a gilt silver platter. (Lol, jk, yall, jk) That being said, I dont see how you cant love the combat. The material leveling/combo system and interchangeablility make it infinitely replayable. As for the game I havent encountered any game breaking bugs yet, and Im on the second disk now, so the money spent is well worth it in this era of micro transactions and unfinished games. Youll be playing this for hundreds of hours, if youre a grinding completionist, or at the very least 80-90, if you just want to get through the story. Its as good and as massive and as nostalgic as you remember it being.

For all who have played Final Fantasy 7 for the PS/1 this is the exact same version. For those who have not played Final Fantasy 7 do not expect advanced controls, saves or graphics. If you are expecting nice little auto saves or other little fancies that the new systems have you will not have them, this is a PS/1 reboot not a remake thank you.

This last update finally fixed most of the lag. This game is playable now, and it is a timeless RPG.

Nothing special. Just puts the original game on mobile. Poor graphics and controls.

Not sure why this port is so different than how they did ff9, its pretty bad. Also it needs an auto-save feature, pretty annoying it doesnt have that.

This is a port of the PC version. Graphics are still what the were on the PS1 but slightly smoother. Controls are just fine for it and work really well. The auto save for when you enter a new area/world map is awesome if your phone dies or you accidentally close the app while its in the background. If you liked PS1 era RPGs, Final Fantasy games, or were a fan of this from before its a must buy. The auto max level booster is great if you have beaten the game before and just want to experience the story gain. However this does not affect materia so you will still need to level that up. All in all a great port. I gave it 4 stars because as others noted it slows down on the World Map after you move for more than 5 seconds. This is fixed by quickly entering the menu and exiting quick. But you shouldnt have to do that.

A bit sad that the cloud save cant reuse he desktop cloud save

Words cannot do justice to what this game really is. You have to experience it for yourself to realize what Im talking about. If youre a real gamer then I cant emphasize enough that Final Fantasy VII defined the whole genre of RPG. Thanks Square Enix for bringing back a nostalgic game, the likes of which many may never see again.

horribly slow - hangs for 10 seconds after every fight. controls are horrid.

a CHROMECAST plugin would be sick!

This game is so awesome for an app. The game play is smooth and the controls are good. I remember playing this game as a kid. Man, Im so glad they made it as an app. Worth the money. I could have waited for it to go on sale, but couldnt wait any longer. Now I can take my iPad anywhere and play this game whenever I want. No more pc version for me.

Seriously. I downloaded this last night and have played for about two hours. In that time cloud has gotten stuck in place three times. Like in the corner where you cant get him to move out of the corner. He just gets stuck and theres nothing you can do about it.

I wrote big reviews before for this game yet my message was obviously not heard since most the problems are still there. So I’ll be brief. This is coming from someone using an iPhone 6s and iPad Mini 2. The game is full of glitches and flaws. The world lags to the point where I stopped playing. The graphics are NOT PC quality as was advertised. The port was done so half-assed I can only say one thing regarding that: SHAME ON YOU SQUARE FOR LETTING SUCH A PRICELESS GAME BE PORTED WITH ALL THESE GLITCHES AND LAG. Seriously, this is truly unacceptable. We’re talking Final Fantasy 7 here. This game is what made Squaresoft so popular. Please don’t neglect this game. This is my most addictive game of any game I played for 30+ years. If I stopped playing this game because of the flaws and glitches, that’s saying a lot. My two cents….

Controls are a little funny, but the game is just as wonderful as it was when it first came out.

Been waiting 20 years to play this game on something handheld. Finally!! Never has a video game captured my imagination or my heart like FF7 has. Well worth the price. Dont listen to any haters. Its an excellent port. Not only can you transfer your save with iCloud. Theres an auto-save feature as well. After finding out that the upcoming remake is going to be released episodically, and using an action-style battle system, this may turn out to be my consolation prize.

This port it great I love it so much, however the world map has some serious lag that cannot be fixed, but theres one trick is to go to the menu and go out, it will reduce the lag a little but not much. Please fix the world map lag its really the only downside for me. I love this port I loveeee it.

Horrible to play on an iPhone. Poor controls and no auto save. I regret dropping way too much money on this app. Money is better spent elsewhere.

I was 20+ hours into my game when the game tried to update. The update failed, that was two weeks ago, and now it is stuck in "waiting status". Only option is to delete the whole app and start all over. Say they have cloud storage but does not work. Lost game and will not replay. Still best game ever but unfortunate no back up options. Beware on this format you might invest a lot of time in getting a perfect game and lose it all.
